The LeashLocket comes with an attachment that snaps around the collar and has a really strong magnet with the other magnet on the locket, so when you're done using the leash you can simply attach the locket to the collar. Dotty is less than 15 pounds so I was concerned about this weighing down her collar too much; I consulted the website and found that the company recommends using LeashLocket with a harness for mini/toy breeds so that they can carry it on their backs. This works much better for Dotty although I still wouldn't have her carry the leash for long periods of time. It's recommended that you not let the dog wear the leash all the time anyway - just under supervision. It's really intended for when you're out and about or taking the dog for a ride and want to have a leash handy.
What I love about this product is that the leash is so small and compact that it's convenient to keep in the car or in a pocket/purse to easily pull it out when taking the dog for a quick walk. It fits nicely in my hand and I like having the wrist strap which can be purchased separately. It's much less bulky than other retractable leashes, strong enough for Dotty, and has the convenient option of attaching to her harness. It's a really cool and affordable product that I recommend for anyone with dogs under 90 pounds.
I also really appreciate that a portion of the proceeds from LeashLocket sales is donated to help abused and neglected pets through the LeachLocket ASTRO Foundation. This is really important to me and I plan to continue to support this company.
