Exfolimate is a new technology for exfoliation of the face and body that was developed in Australia. It is a handheld rounded triangular waterproof tool that has a smooth metal edge with patented micro-groove technology intended to gently release dirt and oil embedded beneath skin's surface.
There are two sizes that come in each pack - a smaller one for face and a larger one for body. They both come with waterproof adjustable cords that can be attached so you can fasten it around your wrist to avoid dropping it in the shower. It's also nice to be able to hang these in the shower on hooks after each use.
You only need to use water with this tool, but cleansers can also be used in conjunction with it. I personally use the tool with water in the shower first before I use a cleanser on my face, and then after my shower, I apply my regular serums and moisturizers. Since the pores are opened up, any product you put on your face afterward will absorb quicker. The exfoliation process also stimulates blood flow to the skin's surface to help skin regeneration.
On my body I use the tool on my legs before I shave. It helps to get a closer shave and my legs feel smoother afterward. I'm less gentle when using it on my legs - not that I push hard, but I just don't worry so much about the pressure - and I still don't experience any irritation. I think it also helps to lift up the hairs when going against the grain, to get a closer shave.
Exfolimate is easy to use and doesn't take much pressure to get results. I would recommend it for anyone with normal, dry, oily, or combination skin. I would not recommend for anyone with severe acne, as it may irritate those inflamed areas. But for normal skin, if you use gentle pressure, there shouldn't be any irritation. This product is available at Walgreens, Drugstore.com, Amazon, and several other retailers.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
