Pimsleur Spanish 1 Language Learning Course Review
How cool is this packaging?? Love it!
Although I took a few basic Spanish courses in high school, there's no way I could hold a conversation with a native Spanish speaker right now. Enter: the Pimsleur Spanish 1 Language Learning Course. While it's is nice to have the basics of Spanish already to make these lessons easier, it's not necessary to have any background at all for this beginner level course. And, even though I already did know a bit of the language beforehand, I'm finding that the lessons are teaching me how to actually speak it rather than just knowing certain verbs and nouns. The accents, voice inflection, and pronunciations are something you don't often get from a classroom since classroom settings don't always allow for speaking the language the entire time. With the Pimsleur method, I'm learning how to actually hold a conversation in Spanish - all during my daily commute!

The Pimsleur Spanish 1 learning method has 16 CDs with 30 lessons on it. You just do one 30-minute lesson a day - which involves listening, speaking, and responding the entire time. No notes, memorization, or books. This locks the language material in your brain and uses repetition and recall in specific increments that are perfectly timed for prime learning.

I love being able to learn Spanish while I drive to work every day, not to mention the fact that each lesson is short enough that it doesn't seem like a chore. It's actually pretty fun to answer the questions and have a "conversation" with the audio CD. And I'm really getting the accent and pronunciations down - way more than I had back in high school.

I recommend the Pimsleur Learning Method to anyone looking to learn new languages or taking a trip to a foreign country - It's easy, quick, and effective. Plus once you pass the beginner's course you can move on to higher levels and really get proficient in a language if you'd like. Or, just get the basics and head south of the border for that vacation you've always wanted to take!
