Cinch! Book Review

Cinch! Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds, and Lose Inches is a new diet book by Cynthia Sass, the coauthor of Flat Belly Diet. Cynthia Sass is a registered dietitian whose Weight Loss Coach column appears each month in Shape magazine.

This new weight-loss program burns fat through innovative combinations of nutrient-rich foods that deliver a metabolism miracle. Cinch! is a 30-day program that begins with a highly effective 5-day "fast forward" and is customizable for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. This book includes shopping lists and recipes to help you recalibrate your body and break free from cravings and overeating.

Although I won't be following the entire Cinch! plan, it reminds me in many ways of the low-carb diet I have followed and lost over 30 pounds throughout the last 5 months. Cinch! focuses on good whole-grain carbs, nutrient-rich foods, and protein. There are many great topics covered in this book - it doesn't just focus on "eat this not that", but it goes into depth on how to eat, why to eat, and when to eat. Cynthia covers the benefits of organic foods, how processed foods affect your health and weight, and why calorie counting is outdated.

The thing I like best about the Cinch! book is that there is a whole chapter dedicated to conquering emotional eating, which I think is very important and something that many diets and weight loss books overlook. Emotional eating and eating without thinking or without being hungry are huge culprits in weight gain.

Overall I really like Cinch! and would recommend it for anyone looking for a healthy weight loss plan or just wanting to eat healthier and learn some new better-eating tips.
