CLOSED Soft Paws Pet Nail Caps Review & Giveaway {#45}

Soft Paws Nail Caps are your solution to scratches and injuries from your cats or dogs, scratched furniture, scuffed floors, or animals scratching their wounds. Soft Paws are vinyl nail caps designed to fit easily over your pet's claws without harming them. Soft Paws are developed by a veterinarian and are made of non-toxic vinyl so it's harmless if the pet chews or accidentally swallows a nail cap. Soft Paws do not affect nail extension or retraction so they're perfectly safe for cats, and are a humane alternative to declawing. These nail caps last for 6 to 8 weeks, and in each kit you get about 40 caps, so enough for 4 different front claw applications, which would almost get you through a whole year!

Soft Paws are very functional, even helping dogs maintain footing on slick surfaces - but they are fashionable too! There are many different colors, seasonal sets, or clear if you want a natural look. I received a set of hot pink nail caps for my dog Dotty, and surprisingly she was very cooperative when I applied the nail caps. The glue got a little messy on my fingers, but the caps went on fine and my dog still hasn't chewed them off or had any issues with them weeks later! These caps have been so nice since my small dog gets excited and jumps up on me or will try to scratch me as a signal to give her food. With these caps, it doesn't hurt or scratch me at all! Everyone in my family has said how happy they are that I put Soft Paws on Dotty so she doesn't inadvertently scratch them.

I did however discover that I got the wrong size (Small) for her and should've asked for Medium. Sizing can sometimes be difficult when choosing these nail caps, but I found that the Soft Paws company is very helpful and has an easy and free exchange policy if you need a different size - I just mailed back the nail cap kit and they are going to send me the medium kit! This is a great policy and it's really nice that they care about customer satisfaction and want to make sure your pets have the right size nail caps. Even though the caps for Dotty were a little small, they still work for now until we get mediums.

The cats, however, were a different story. I received a gray medium feline kit for Eddie and small green kit for Bella, my roommates cats that are not declawed. I was able to get all the nail caps on Eddie, but he chewed them off after a few days. Bella only let me get two caps on her before she freaked out. According to the materials I received from Soft Paws, nail cap training is harder for cats and the materials include suggestions on how to get the cats accustomed to the caps. I wish I would've discovered these caps when the cats first moved in - it would've saved my furniture! Soft Paws really is a great alternative to declawing.
