Maroon 5 "Hands All Over" CD Review

If you've listened to the radio at all in the past decade, chances are you have heard a Maroon 5 song. Maroon 5 have released two multi-platinum studio albums, won three Grammy Awards, and sold 15 million albums around the world. Now they're back with their third-studio album, entitled Hands All Over — a hybrid of rock, pop, funk, and R&B, that showcases the band’s considerable strengths: buoyant, unforgettable melodies, sleek, stylish grooves, charged lyrics about turbulent relationships, and crisp, dynamic performances.

Maroon 5's new album Hands All Over just debuted yesterday, and I was lucky enough to receive a digital copy of the album from Musebox. I have been a fan of Maroon 5 since their songs "This Love" and "Harder to Breathe" were big hits on the radio back in 2002. They have come a long way since then, but yet still have the same signature Maroon 5 sound that everyone loves. I first heard their single "Misery" from this new album a few weeks ago on the radio and thought "I MUST have that song!" Well, now I do! "Misery" is an awesome, catchy, relatable song. And as always, Adam Levine's voice is so unique and perfect that you can't help but sing along!

I wasn't sure if the rest of the album would live up to "Misery", but I honestly like every single song on Hands All Over! Of course I have my favorites - "Stutter", "Don't Know Nothing", and "I Can't Lie." I love the catchy, upbeat sound of many of the songs and the heartfelt lyrics that go along with the funky melodies. The last song on the album was a pleasant surprise because it is different than the typical Maroon 5 "sound". "Out of Goodbyes" is a slow duet with Lady Antebellum lead singer Hillary Scott. Very pretty song, and definitely more of a sad song. I love the lyrics of this song too, because I can totally relate:

Never asked you to change, but sadly you don’t feel the same about me
I wonder does your man, still shudder when you touch his hand, like this man
And on our way home I realize
There is some kind of storm brewing in his eyes,
Only veiled by a thin disguise
Now that I’ve done my time, I need to move on
And I need you to try
Cuz we’re out of goodbyes
Hands All Over is the type of album I can listen to over and over - whether I'm driving in the car, working on a project, or listening to my ipod during a workout. I would recommend this new Maroon 5 album to anyone and everyone!
